Potential brand new series?
Because the author prepared this for a long time, with careful preparation. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

I dunno if it is because I am enjoying Orient but this samurai manga feels wrong if not desperate

The concept of this manga, a sci-fi steam punk, feels like i'm reading a tsutomi nihei manga

Isn't this more on the side of future fantasy than science fiction? Just a thought.

I read both the preview and the first chapter and story-wise, it seems to lack a certain "oomf" for some reason. And the story elements seem rather loose and I suppose, expects readers to just take what's thrown at them at face value.

How did the manekineko Daruma make the game? He doesn't seem like the programmer type.

Also how does Hachimaru automatically know how to fight? You could argue it's from him playing virtual games all the time but from the way he worded it to his dad, this game is something he picked up recently.

I just felt like everything was too convenient for the plot.

Maybe the author didn't feel like spending too much time fleshing out how he became a samurai and just wanted to jump to that point already so he packed it all in to one chapter. So next chapter, I expect them to just go ahead and proceed with his samurai adventures going forward which is a shame as I wanted a more smooth transition rather than the "oops he's now a samurai who's actually competent" trope.

Shueisha called this the first ever sci-fi samurai story, pretending Gintama wasn’t the third longest running story in jump for a few months.

Because everybody is saying something (flaws) about this manga, this is gonna be a huge success in Japan 😅
Their taste sure is different from our.

Curse them, they forgot about Gintama.
When I see all grabbing attention articles about this author's comeback. Let's not use Naruto as a standard.
Naruto was there when I was a snotty brat and then made excited with all the scorn of friendship in it. In my eyes, Masashi just happened to succeed just like other authors.
I didn't reject the possibility of many fans coming from the explosion of the series at that time (I also came around in the 2000's, a little way away). But as the top 3, I still don't understand how it works in the community.
Well, the phenomenon of biased thinking and toxic fans is indeed unavoidable.

Back to this new series, firstly, I'm not artphobic. I've also seen worse. But honestly, I'm a little less comfortable with this.
I laughed and agreed at someone's comments on Facebook who said, looking at the art he needed 30 minutes to adjust. And it's hard to finish just one chapter.

If I asked to choose about which new adventure series is good, let's say Eden's Zero is far more interesting. Somehow this also reminds me of Orient where I dropped it halfway.

And, I actually feel a lot of flaws here. I can't see where and what aspects will make it very interesting. But I'm sure JUMP will improve it because this is their chance to pocket money from a big author.

The art is so cool! The technology looks so cool! I love the floaty bits around the Armour.

tf why is this over hype samurai and sci fi? This manga is like Gintama but much more serious. But it's bad I don't know why but I've read a lot of manga such as orient and this just plain

You can definitely see the overlapping themes between this and Naruto. Unfortunately, this probably won't do as well (at least in the beginning) because it's already way too complex. The world is too un-intuitive unlike Naruto. The art is pretty cool though.

Yeah...I don't like this manga. The action is too hard to follow, the samurai powers haven't really been explained that well & the art is too busy & not focused. I feel like Samurai 8 will still be a moderate success regardless of those flaws because Kishimoto's name is attached to it, so I'll just wait until the anime comes out.
