I think I'd rather forget my friends deaths because we've lived so long together and I have so many memories of them that it slips my mind, rather than wallow in misery that they were gone too soon (because I will wallow).

That's not to say her feelings aren't valid, because it is really scary that you could forget something as important as one of your friends dying, since isn't that supposed to be an important memory?
