@Peanutbutth kun is not for boys only, in true none of the honorifics are settle by sex. Of course that dont reflect the common use of it. Generally u'll see boys called kun and girls san but that could change based on the situation and is a more informal way to use it on daily bases. Tho a male being called san is quite common and if u read office mangas is not that uncommon girls being called kun either, since its also a general formal way to call subordinates.

The principle reminds me of the coach and stuff from the “Olympic Circles” manga where the Japanese guy was basically forced to drop his fiancé to not have any “distractions” during the olympics. But he lost the olympics his now ex fiancé had to marry someone else and he killed himself. So in short the mayor and principal can go kill themselves.
