I still love that they have faced their gayness head-on in this moment.
This is the first time anyone has said the word "boyfriend" in Japanese in the entire series. Thus Miyano's reaction.
The word is exclusively male, and that’s sadly rare in BL.
Think back to volume 2. Miyano is on the stairs, confused and scared as he confronts the possibility that he’s gay.
Most of the reason he doesn’t give his answer is “what if I’m wrong, and I’m straight?”, to put it simply. He’s aware he feels something special, that he’s attracted on some level. He holds back because he’s afraid he’ll be unable to have any kind of physical relationship. He doesn’t want to hurt him. And he’s too pure to just imagine it.
So right here we get "oh, yeah... We're... gay", more or less.
I once thought I was bi or pan. I started dating a guy, about a month or so? Anyway, it was nice to feel cared for that much, and hugs were nice, but guys kiss weird! It’s like they’re counting teeth! And they smell like bologna.
Lesbian all the way!
