Whoever the fuck translated this - please, read this line again. It's just wrong. Is English not your native language? That's fine, just translate it in your own language, because this is terrible.

"These are steel pellets, munition for a slingshot" would be a much better translation. I don't know why this bothers me so much, but a terrible translation just takes me right out of the story.
