That said, I'm somewhat mystified why "Disciplinary Committees" are so prevalent in anime/manga when... they aren't actually a thing (granted this isn't technically a Disciplinary Committee/Council and is just the Student Council, but from what I understand policing the students on matters like dress codes is something purely for the teachers/school staff... because that makes sense).

Then again, it's my American brain at work here. If you tell me not to do something meaningless it just makes me want to do it more. So, probably a good thing I'll never swap bodies with a Japanese student. Not just because of the language barrier issue. Because I would be a fucking thorn in any faculty members side.
