How do you expect anyone in that class to progress if you don't critique it...? Like what?
What I get from this is that critique is fine, it's how you critique. In her mind, giving scores isn't the way to do it. We don't know why quite yet but it's prolly a moral she inherited from her mentor or a past partner.

I am kind of conflicted here. I think he was trying to kick the bad apples out of there. The ones who only wanted to see her naked but I think sensei would have been able to handle it. He let his worry that other people would see her naked take over, then turned into kind of an ass. Nothing really terrible IMO. But my real issue is that she is freaking tf out over the critique method that she never guided him on, as far as we know. guess we'll have to see how bad the damage that the credits alluded to.

Maybe it's not the act of critique she's bothered by, but how he's applying it, and how he's defining progress. Machida has tunnel vision for realism, while Sakura is more interested in exploration and subjective vision. For Sakura, putting grades and forcing a certain point of view is antithetical to the purpose of Art.

Criticism can be a two-edged sword. It's good when it helps you see things in a new way or come to new understandings, but is bad when it shuts down possibilities or limits your creativity. Machida is doing the latter.

Problem is the kid is being way too harsh about it to people who have no idea how to draw in the first place.

You don’t rate a person who doesn’t know how to draw first and then kick them out.

He barely gave an explanation on why they were bad, why their art wasn’t good or where they could improve. That’s not a class, that’s a contest. It’s not supposed to be this competitive for that.

This chapter felt a bit weird, with the time-skip with the contest already having ending, and we didn't even see Machida's and Tsukishima's pieces who won T-T. Nice to see them having great progress as artists though, and I like seeing how Tsukishima has grown confident (like a proud samoyed indeed).

The critique thing, it seems obvious to me that it's just Machida trying to kick everybody new out, even those with some developed talent and genuine curiosity. He's a harsh and direct fella, but it feels like there's no good will in how he critiqued the guy from page 15 for example, even if though he actually gave there some genuinely good advice (I wonder if it's the same guy who called Sakura sensei a liar on page 18). Also, the grading thing, even Machida said in his own thoughts that it was arbitrary, so come on man, those are just intimdation tactics and him flexing his knowledge and seniority. The scene isn't over yet though, and maybe not everyone new besides Machida's friend left, so let's see when the new chapter comes out.

As always, thank you very much for the scanlation.

This manga has to stop skipping major plot points
If you started something please finish it don't just rush into something new or else there's nothing to care about if we get unsure if the resolution will even be shown properly

I mean from my pov, it looks like for one reason or another the author had to scrap that storyline. We got a resolution. The teacher was arrested and Maki got community service. I am glad we didn't linger on that plot for too long. If you're talking about another rushed plot point, my bad.

Not talking specifically about that one, if it was just that one it's understandable
But they also skipped the contest conclusion like why? that's what i meant on my comment
why would i follow a new arc if they could just brush it off into a new one
