But this Adventurer's Guild rules are trash. Forcing the guild to be intermediaries secures their influence and nobility precedence, whatever, but nonsense like this needn't happen in IRL because contracts or scrip can be signed and brought to the guild afterwards. This is letting a village die for something as banal as commissioning furniture. These kind of intermediaries are still part of money laundering.
To be fair it'd be very slightly inconvenient. But like cash versus a check with delayed deposit that's basically all paid to the guild in this gig. No big deal. What an asinine reason for people to die.
...I could totally see it happening but I don't like it being taken for granted as normal. I won't hold out hope for a plotline revolving around merchantile contracts.
