It's weird to me that these weakling think they can negotiate on equal footing with Yuuta but I can't remember which floor's goods Yuuta has been selling to Marie. I think it was floor 50 and above but I can't really remember. Either way purely from a business perspective, there's nothing they can offer Yuuta that Marie can't offer better. He's been largely living well without the guild anyway. The guild has no mechanism to control Yuuta, outside of like using magic slavery or something, because Yuuta is both too strong so he has other avenues of work and no good feelings because every interaction with the guild has been shitty. Others are willing to help the guild when it is being unreasonable or accept forced designated requests because they have good feelings towards the guild from working there for awhile or can't easily find new work to support themselves without the guild. None of that applies to Yuuta.

Ideally Yuuta would get the apology then bounce and never go to the guild again. It would be preferably for him to just cripple or outright kill the guild master then bounce never to return again. Not because that's a proportionate response or because the guild master has shown himself to be narrow minded and malicious towards Yuuta. I think that should happen because the guild parts of the story have been the worst and least interesting parts of the story so I would like it to never come up again.

I hear you, and if this was entirely one-sided, I would agree with you, but Yuuta was up in arms himself. He took actions in order to antagonize the adventurers' guild and specifically wanted them to apologize and acknowledge spirit users. Meeting with the guild master and hearing his public apology should've been his goal, so being reluctant about it at this point feels off. Heck, he was trying to come up with a condition that he figured they wouldn't want to accept in order to avoid having to face him.

It's like running a marathon, only to feel reluctant to actually cross the finish line. There's no shame if you can't make it, but it's weird to not feel like doing it if you're about to do it...
Not exactly. He didn't want them to "apologize and acknowledge spirit users"... he wanted them to "eat their words", he wanted them to pull their hairs out due to lost profits, he wanted them to suffer in regret for crossing him. etc etc

On the other hand, what is happening right now is their attempt at damage control, fixing the relationship BEFORE it is widespread that they are being FORCED to do it. They are trying to appear as a "good guys", trying very hard to support even a "filthy highhanded troublemaker", aka Yuta. As if there wasn't even a reason for them to apologize, their pride/image will also take a hit, but they still apologized just for the sake of peacekeeping. Ah, such a role model organization!

If Yuta try to refuse, when they are so "sincerely apologizing", it would backfire at him, not at the guild. He needs means to refuse them, but those that explicitly show everyone around that he was right and justice is on his side.

I really would like some spoiler on Eltina, because her beauty, figure, customized uniform that seems to barely cover a SM queen outfit, the throat tattoo...she can't be a normal person, at the same time for her bieng unable to judge MC power/strenght and showing suprprise multipe times I don't think she is something like a super high rank adventurer that retired.
throat tattoo weirdly reads to me as some kinda slave mark, as in she’s forced to work for the guild and that’s why her attitude is shit

Might just be my social anxiety talking but I‘d definitely act like mc here. It’s gonna be an awkward conversation either way and he’s got no idea what energy the guild master will bring

I'm with everyone else.

Here's the thing I'll add: the adventurer's guild did not just belittle him, they actively spread rumors about him to ensure that not just all adventurers, but everyone in the city, knew about him being some sort of scammer and he has had no end of troubles because of that.

Even during this apology you can see that there's no sincerity behind it because they're just putting him on the spot to accept their apology while everyone, under the belief that the rumors are true, believes he's pulling some new con which is why the receptionist is publicly apologising to him. If the adventurer's guild were actually sincere, they'd have started cleaning up the mess they created with the bad rumors about him.

Yuuta has already stated that the plot to not sell rare materials to the guild is only the beginning; he also wants to set up a guild for spirit mages which would compete with the adventurer's guild. He might be seeking a public apology and also a restoration of his public image, but he also has to avoid accepting anything which might restrain him. As in, the guildmaster wants to make a public apology in order to ensure that Yuuta sells his rare materials to the guild and that they can profit from reselling it. The guildmaster may even attempt to trap him in some other way; he may have high ranking friends (nobility, who basically are the law) be present in order to pressure Yuuta into being subservient to the guild and only selling his material to them.

So, in short, Yuuta is acting wary here because he wants to ensure he's not forced to accept any condition that goes against his interest. He wants this apology to happen on his own terms where he can continue using the guild card, selling them what he feels like selling them while selling the rarer stuff directly to his contacts, taking the quests he feels like taking and not being forced to accept any quest that would exploit his ability to gather rare materials, while dispelling his bad reputation as being a conman.

Also, he's not the brightest, and messes up a lot, so he really has to give himself time to think things through calmly instead of just going into the flow set by the adventurer guild's guildmaster.

Pretty funny to have a character be omniscient to schemes and just direct an unwilling participant to fuck around with it

unfortunately Eltina also involved and she will be traumatized next.

i mean if the guild want to apologize they can go private first then arrange the meeting if it need public or not. the fact she goes the apologize infront of everyone else despite the guild themselves who spread his bad rumors mean they aren't honest but forcing him to accept it to keep their image.

that one alone already red flag

oh the manga really increase the phase here, which is a good thing compared to the WN slower pace
as WN reader, the next part will be very delicious :dogkek:

like mc utterly destroy the guild leader and the secretary not only mental-wise, but also physical-wise
