the wn (and maybe next chapter) explains that the contract is written intentionally complicated such that the parts that would screw him over are written in seemingly innocuous paragraph, such that only a scholar would be able to notice it. Plus mc is in a crowded room and being asked to sign immediately. The guild master thought there was no way he’d notice it that fast

Do the trip quick enough, and dump them in the crowd so that they wouldn't have time to cook up a fake story. The worried masses will question them, where I took them, what they saw, how we got there and back so quickly. And if they start lying, pick up the liar and a few bystanders and give them a short trip. He has the ability to discredit every lie they make as quickly as they make them.

What bone would I be throwing them? The source of his abilities is not a secret: it's spirit magic. He keeps telling them. And how would they consider him a threat if he's apparently just lying and using trickery? They'd have to first admit that spirit magic is real, that they've all been wrong.
