The movie didn't skip it per se as the LN did not cover it this way either, we were simply told that it had happened without being shown in both cases. The manga is just taking a more direct approach.

He did. Was even mentioned in chapter 1.
Anyway, time is deterministic in BGS. Event occur the same way generally despite changes to some details.

Sakuta ends up at Minegahara no matter what amongst other things, even when he doesn't meet shouko at all.
