Yeah, whatever he wants to claim about her ignorance of their historic situation (not that it even makes any sense, Earth can't "run out of resources" as long as the sun is going, and they could always get more from space too), he himself is a product of the same situation. And she's also seen that there could well have been a third way, he felt so self-righteous and arrogant he just went instantly to the opposite extreme. Even if it was necessary to open the gate to some extent, with better containment and isolation and planning, perhaps doing it out in the wilderness, perhaps letting most minify first, there could have been coexistence and not throwing away everything good they had even as the wilderness got new energy.
