I'm kinda scratching my head about this. I suppose this is a point of divergence between the manga and the web novel. IIRC (chapters released years ago, sorry) there's the rivalry between Akechi and Hideyoshi and it was Akechi who always the first to consult with Shizuko and ask for help if needed. Without pride, bluster, or subterfuge thinking that the fulfillment of the greater plan of Nobunaga is paramount and is his only consideration. When he was won over by Shizuko, (after the introduction of improved muskets I think), he trusted her without question and even placed his daughter Gracia as Shizuko's employee. In return Shizuko gave Akechi full support.

That's in contrast with Hashiba (Hideyoshi) who is too proud to ask for help until it was obvious to everyone that he needs it. Also egged on by his scheming brother.

the author clearly have no idea how slavery worked during that period or at least not have no delved beyond skimming those parts, this is very "fantasy slavery" coded and that tend to be based on american chattel slavery, aka one of the worst example of it in remembered history.
