Drives me nuts how people online and in stories treat age gap relationships. I know almost a dozen couples irl with age gaps between 8 and 26 years.

Nobody gives a fuck irl unless they live online or grew up with the internet. So irl you have young people convinced it's a problem, and older people dgaf. Meanwhile, in media and online it's reversed.

Yes and no.

Yes, I agree because I love age gap stories. I love seeing the younger chase after the older one. It's romantic and funny.
No, I disagree because it's been like that since forever. Lots of adults use anything to take advantage of the younger ones.

I'm not fully disagreeing but the same time, I get where you are coming from because chronically online younger crowd do think age gap stories are "hurting the children" when its not. Hahaha

He could be on his early 30s, some people are baby faced and can get away with saying they are 20 on a good day

And given how he is short, has soft facial Asiatic features, and probably has a skin care routine since he is gay and actively looking for a partner, he probably gets away saying that he is on his 20s even on bad days! hell he could be mid 30s

I mean i was like 90% joking but i don't think the author would suddenly make him younger versus "college student with a bit of an age gap" even if it's not like, ten years/as 'extreme' to us i can imagine he'd be cautious about anyone younger/tech a minor considering he's already struggling with his sexuality (though we don't really know why he broke up with his last partner other than they got in a heated enough argument for him to be hit)

that it's not super normal for college students/adults to hang out with high schoolers

especially given the fact how easy it is to coerce younger ppl to do something 'adult', like drinking, smoking, vaping, and obviously, engaging in sexual activities.

also, I totally get how Kanefumi might've not caught that our boy Asahi is young, today it is hard AF to tell someones age with 30 yo looking like they are in their 20s and 14yo looking like if they are at least 19 or in their 20s, and folks who are 20+ looking either too young or too old for their age. it gets so ridiculous that I always ask to see an ID of some sorts, cause who knows!
