I've had this encounter a LOT. Many of my friends are aro-ace or straight yet people tend to think we are "dating." Mind you, I am trans + semi in the closet. Guess a lot of people assume just because two of the opposite genders are gonna date instead of assuming they are friends.
uhh, homos are stoned to death here in my countryI'm sure you fellas went through something similar.
An ex of mine did this once, except we were in our early 20's at the time (we'd known each other since we were early teens, and were trying to make the 'stay friends after breaking up' thing work. To this day I am still not entirely sure what she thought was going to happen, pretending to be a gay man on the internet to catfish a gay man, because of course he got angry when he eventually learned the truth. What was the plan here? "Zounds, my online love interest is really a woman, I must therefore be into women"??? She wasn't very happy when I asked her that exact question, called me 'unsupportive'.That reminds me when I was a teenager a gay guy stole the crush of my friend because he was checking out if he was 100% gay. I had to see the entire trainwreck, which got worse when I told the girl "he's clearly gay why are you with him" and her replying "I can fix him".
Because of that comment of hers, I simply stood there watching her fall which turned hilarious to me but my mate was suffering through the entire ordeal. I'm sure you fellas went through something similar.
As long as it's lighthearted , well meaning, better to be teased by friends/acquaintances vs parents being like "so when are the grandkids coming"
Altho shame ppl can't be snarky without potentially offending the other person like being tempted to say something like "what, so do you jump in bed every time you see a hot guy?" (Well maybe phrased a bit less rude than that lol), tho to a lesser extent I have heard anecdotes of women wearing fake wedding rings in public -at work so they don't get hit on
It's always funny yet insulting when someone tries to win a gay person over with shit like that. Honestly though, it has also happened the other way around of gays trying to win over heteros. It's kinda sad that people think they can control the sexual orientation of someone else, all you can do is check if the other person is bi and that's it.An ex of mine did this once, except we were in our early 20's at the time (we'd known each other since we were early teens, and were trying to make the 'stay friends after breaking up' thing work. Im a lesbian with a lot of guy friends so whenever im out with one of them 1 on 1 people will comment how cute we are together and I just yell "NO IM GAY" and that tends to make people stammer and be quiet real quick lolI've had this encounter a LOT.
