God damn it, he must be planning to force them to flower and then take their power, just like the Pope did with the Mirror. I guess since they are in the Empire's tower range, the little power fruits might appear there after their death instead of back home.

Also, looking at Miura, it seems like in some way the more people trust Lucas, the easier it is for him to control them.

Another great chapter, thank you! The Emperor, and in turn probably the Pope, likely knows what the true original nature of their powers are. In retrospect and comparing examples we've seen between flowering and not, it does seem like the "base" usage of power is kind of crude, filtered through the perceptions of what are effectively middle ages levels of education and existence. The towers clearly seem to be the creation of an advanced society with the administrators dating back to then as well, all of whom had some sort of purpose, makes sense if the core powers were much more involved and fundamental. Though that raises the question of why the Pope is holding this back. There are clearly a lot of wheels within wheels yet to be revealed!

Did chuckle a bit at page 53, just casually stopping to get grab a drink, stone cold. Manipulating reality is thirsty work lol.

This series is great at making pretty much any character interesting in one chapter. The Facsimile Ramus is so weird and kinda tragic and kinda pathetic, all at once. The facsimiles hurling themselves to their deaths was so fucking creepy, especially after seeing they do have their own thoughts and feelings. I wonder if the facsimile with the X on his head will be a returning character, he seemed "special".

The contrast between the Facsimile Ramus and Miura is also very well done. Pages 56-57 made me go "aawwww :giggle:" out loud.

I forget, is he outright "controlling" them, or is he more "guiding" them?

10/10 chapter and 10/10 translation as well, really love how setting appropriate the language has been done.

Theres just something special about this manga, this beautiful blend of scifi, bio and spirituality. The way the meteor ramus is "recharging" on the throne with the roots, the tiny panel with the bee polinating the flower indicating that Miura might be blossoming soon, its all so amazing!

Everyone who's followed his lights has said something along the lines of it feeling fun or reassuring, despite being in the middle of a life or death situation

So it's not really control, but the light is very compelling. They're not giving up their bodily autonomy to Lucas' instructions, they actively want to follow it, like they can trust it/him completely.

Yeah, sorry, I misremembered chapter 2 as having a moment where one of the enemies comments on feeling compelled as well. On a quick reread, it is explicitly stated that only those directly under Lucas's command feel any kind of influence and it's clear that the opposing party only followed every move Lucas had planned because they were that easy to predict given his strategic knowledge. I thought he was having an effect on pretty much everyone on the battlefield. Plus I might have misunderstood the way he mesmerised the assasins a few chapters ago.

I think this "guiding" nature of his power ties into what Udo was prodding at in the last chapter - they feel guided and safe, but that is only true if Lucas has their best interests in mind. I think, if it came to that, Lucas could send the soldiers to impale themselves on enemies's swords if that somehow was strategically beneficial. And it's possible that those under his influence would find doing this "fun".

Also, I'm assuming that if Lucas does flower at some point, his power might actually get to the level of full-on control.

You know, with the knowledge that Zoe is the TimeWeave ramus, I might actually have a guess as to how she survived that slash back in chapter 13 (page 18). I smell some Dorohedoro-like time shenanigans...

I was thinking the same thing. Lucas' power already comes off as almost addictive, the way soldiers have talked about it.
