Oh, neat! So it isn't a post-apocalyptic setting, but an alt-history setting instead.

I hope this won't break the story in the long run, though. Time travel needs to be handled very carefully as a plot point, because it tends to open a lot of plot holes.

If it gets to the point of too many plot inconsistencies and plot holes, the author still has the option of "I lied". Which would still be in character for the emperor. Probably not ideal, but a fallback option.

echoing everyone that I thought this was post-apocalyptic, having it be a time travel war is a bonkers twist and way more interesting

So Akira is worse yet... he is an arrogant prick who came from a "more developed time" that uses his "superior morals" to categorize people... he is an isekai protag XD, that is a riot.

The authors are being so meta with him, they are practically saying "here what we think of your isekai MCs and their holier-than-thou bullshit".

But this twist is so fun, that this involved time or even space travel was kinda expected, but the fact that this is factually the past and it is the far future trying to change history makes things much more interesting.

Hmmm... didn't expect that of Coura again... maybe despite her sadistic tendencies, she still has the desire to connect in a sincere manner with people.

This story just refuses to be anything but peak. I love that final shot of the tower, it looks like the control tower of a submarine just below the surface. The change in perspective of the protagonist is matched with a literal change in perspective from the comic, and what was once a divine blessing is now a mysterious and ominous entity, guiding the state of the world to unknown and malicious ends from beyond sight.

Remember to support the offical releases when you can fellas!

I was gonna be disappointed in the typical japanese citizen isekai but I really vibe with this premise. Proxy wars waged by the future using the past. This makes me wonder how Akira fits into all this. Maybe he's a descendant of someone from the future
all the kings feel like they are people that came from the future as they are kind of immortal, like he explained what is happening but not everything.

IDK if it's a translation quirk, but page 56 seems to imply that there was (will be ?) a whole nation of rami. I wonder where that power comes from. My guess is that a little girl randomly stumbled upon the source of all organic life.

I wonder how such warfare works. My guess is that the rami nation first attained supremacy this way, but some of them defected for some reason, giving that power to others. However, I'm thinking that the attempts from the other nations haven't yet produced any effects on the future.

It seems Lucas forgot even his vision of an alternate present, in which he and Zoe were caught up by the Garland. Surely there was an important insight for him in it, which he'll remember eventually. But how did it happen ? Does he have a power like Akira's, or was it something else ?

The way he was "led" to his vision had me thinking that playing music was only a "crutch" for his power, but perhaps it does require music, except the one playing it then was him from a future, using his power (in conjuction with Zoe's ?) to communicate his own memories to his past self, reappropriating the future people's tactics. Perhaps Lucas' "constellations" might be more aptly called "paths"...

Time travel is always a risky thing to introduce, but that manga has been great so far and it does look like that twist was planned from the start, so I'm cautiously optimistic that the author will manage to make it work.

This might be the only time I've seen a "mystery of the setting" revealed in a manga that isn't dogshit...
