this is actually a very interesting concept the more the pope breaks it down, these towers are WMD's but instead of normal science based mass destruction capabilities, they give you the ability to alter history how you see fit. Great chapter, I'm curious what those last spreads were about but otherwise the author did a good job dealing with the obvious issues time travel introduces, so I'm happy to wait and see what they do.

Wished the mangaka focused on the medieval warfare a bit more and keep the future stuff for the second half

Pretty sure we are in the second half, most of the worldbuilding has been set up, the main antagonists has been introduced and the main character has come to term with his situation, learned the truth of the conflict he is a part of, and found a new/renewed reason to fight the real battle.
To me that chapter screams end of the first half, I wouldn't be surprised if we got a time skip soon.

Also, I doubt we will suddenly stop seeing medieval battles, both side seems intent on not fucking the timeline too much so I don't think we will see modern or futuristic weaponry before one side gets really desperate.

If I have to take a gander, the contenders are/were/will be two or more of USA, China, Russia, India and Japan, because of course it is always about fucking Japan; and maybe one of the locals unwillingly dragged into this mess, like the king of mirror country. No one would want to fight a high intensity war with weapons of mass destruction in what will become their future territory: ask french, who are still digging out unexploded artillery rounds from WWI...

If you look at the maps and historical names, the mirror country is literally France, the Empire of Erin is literally England, and the Papal States is literally Italy. The USA as a force would make no fucking sense, as the US isn't even colonized by this point. China might make sense, but they are under Mongol rule rn. Russia would make no sense because Russia isn't even a unified political entity, and the strongest Russian Principality rn is Novgorod, but Russia is based on Muscovy so it doesn't fucking matter. Japan would make no sense, as they are so far away and historically weaker than all these other Empires. I don't even know what was going on in India but it doesn't matter.
