Literally, お茶 (ocha) means "tea," but in Japanese, it can be used more broadly to mean "a casual drink" or "a chat over drinks," depending on context.

So while it technically means tea, in casual conversation it can imply coffee or other light drinks, especially if the speaker isn’t being super specific.
But obviously with the power of reading ahead. You can get context. It's clear that coffee is correct. This is what happens when a fake native translates and claims otherwise.

The difference in human translation quality is so night and day.

it's categorically different than MTL— and MTL scans most likely do not use any LLM, or use it incorrectly— you would need to feed the entire chapter + previous chapters— it pulls context from what the work is about to shine context, you need a pretty high pro-plan for doing that type of volume

TLDR: both groups are good imo and have their own merits. I’m sightly biased towards Mylene (coz ive been with them for longer) but Senko is objectively more justified in this situation. Still, both are just arguing pointlessly out of pettiness, so they should just compromise and apologise and move on. Senko continues translating this and Mylene stops sniping. Problem solved (i’ll also be siding a bit more than Mylene than most other ppl coz they’re the ones being bashed here and i feel bad for them, but ultimately neither are in the right here)

I am 1000% sure that absolutely no one would read all of this because absolutely no one asked for my opinion. I’m kinda just ranting because i have a lot of things to say about this situation as a neutral party, but i just think we should all reconcile and end the drama, because ultimately it’s only the readers who end up winning.

As far as i see (and remember, because Senko took down their page bashing Mylene), this whole situation was instigated by Senko, to which Mylene is desperately responding in order to save their brand (while they probably wont admit it, again i could be wrong). At this point it’s just both groups being petty with each other, and the war will definitely continue in this manga specifically until one of them decides to wave their white flag and stop translating. It’s really pathetic and unnecessary for both sides, so at this point it’s definitely better to just apologise to each other and move on.

Idk all the details because i cant be bothered to go further and dig too deep into their discord, but as far as i see Senko accusing Mylene was pretty out of left field. While most of these accusations are true to some extent based on Mylene’s response in chapter 9, Senko isnt completely in the right here because unless Mylene’s way of scanlating is actively harming someone, there shouldn’t be a reason for this to escalate beyond the realm of their DMs. I also don’t see any reason for them to bash another TL team just because their low-quality scanlations doesnt warrant them requesting for donations. For the record, and IMHO, ive been with both TL groups for only a few months (Mylene earlier than Senko) and both have their own merits. Mylene’s may be MTL to some extent, but it’s readable to a much better extent when compared to every other non-dedicated group. Senko’s is superior in a few ways, but that doesnt mean Mylene’s is particularly bad. I’m trying to take both sides here because Mylene’s response is only natural sinec Senko taunted first, but i also have to say its still radical and petty.

Moving on to Mylene’s rants. Honestly, given the effort(?) he put into them, i decided to read all of it, and it was something i could reason with and understand, but i cant exactly side with them in this situation. What he wrote felt pretty narcissistic which definitely hurt his chances. Him firing back against Senko and spewing insults at him was not unreasonable, but theres only so much pettiness one can have until they lose most of the public’s support. I’m trying to side with Mylene to some extent here, while trying to also stay relatively neutral, but it’s genuinely hard to.

Also with regards to the comments on the previous chapters (and this one’s too), i think it’s safe to say that most of them are against Mylene. And i can see why. They could be doing literally anything other than being petty and sniping Senko until they decide to surrender. But remember that Senko appears to have instigated all this. None of this would have happened if Senko kept the argument to DMs or just discord instead of bringing the beef to this manga. I also want to say that commenting on this drama while it basically harms everyone should be stopped (unless you wanna see more drama, in which case feel free to rampage i guess). It’s better to ask them to reconcile instead of taking sides and bashing Mylene when they don’t even do bad enough scanlations to warrant this much slander (will admit that it is worse than Senko’s though, objectively)

At the end of the day, both teams are just petty, and this drama is unnecessary. It’s not too late for BOTH parties to just apologise and move on, since it’s entirely unfounded for two very good scanlating groups to continue fighting each other in this manga instead of doung literally anything else better in life.

Anyways, that’s all for the rant. If you read through all of it, you didnt, because you probably skipped to the end or something or just read the TLDR and didnt give another shit. If you genuinely did though, you probably have better things to do in life, but thank you anyway.

I get what you mean but the issue wasn’t about the mangadex translations moreso their comik translations. While I agree it is petty to throw shots at Mylene from a platform other than comik where the actual problems were you have to keep in mind that Senko apologized for their impulsiveness.

However Mylene is not only not apologized but lied about their statements against Senko (Like Senko’s pages being pixelated or whatever). However Regardless of how you feel on Senko, their statements are correct. Mylene is known for MTL, donation begging, and sniping and even conceded their own flaws.

Plus, Most people can simply sympathize more when a quality translator is pushed out by a sniper and can understand Senko lashing out at Mylene because of that.

Ultimately, though I agree the drama shouldn’t be pushed further and like Fap it, Senko, Mylene and Les Para stance of just releasing chapters now instead of attacking any further and let readers do the talking.

Yes, it's a machine doing the translation, hence the name being accurate. But that’s beside the point. Arguing over semantics is pointless when the translations are still far too literal. I’ve seen this firsthand with GPT being used to translate hentai games: the output is stiff, awkward, and completely falls apart whenever things get even slightly ambiguous.


GPT is a powerful tool, no doubt, but relying on it to replace human translators only results in a different kind of bad. In the hentai game community, we’ve gone from awful Google MTL to slightly more coherent, but still flawed, LLM translations. Sure, it’s a step up, but that doesn’t make it good.


And at least in those communities, no one treats GPT’s output as gospel. People understand it’s just a dumb machine with no sense of self, no understanding of cultural nuance, no poetic instinct, and no grasp of real-world social or workplace dynamics. We’re just not there yet.

I am here only for the cute wholesome story that develops and my only input on the whole fight is the following :
Doesnt matter SHIT if you are a native of the language
If you translate to english and your english <-> other language localisation skill is shit... its gonna be shit.
Just because you natively know for example polish but are bad with english , doesnt magically mean you can make great translations. Its about knowing and being able to properly express what is said in language A to B

but that's wrong and the video is also semi-wrong
the actual difference between MTL and a LLM is exactly the fact that it can learn about context and do another cycle where it understands puns, jokes, word-plays, etc. Exactly what you pointed out is the difference between them: one is literal and ignores context—the other is approaching ASI and might actually make the translation to a joke funnier (in a couple of years), possibly better than the original even.
The video is correct in his analysis over context, but it's already outdated.

Not really, I did make a doc, with some screenshot from their server, from groups that they sniped from, and their mistranslations. But around some time last week, I watched a movie called "Blind Fury" (it's not that bad of a movie), and the main character dropped this line.
"Unreasonable men make life so difficult."
Then it kinda hit me. So many people from the scans community, from so many different groups and servers told me to not stoop so low to their level, and they're right. I'm unreasonable because I kept trying to snipe them, making my usual quality dropped. And them being unreasonable by having to prove they are native (where they also admitted to use MTL, before editing it out), having to copy what we did lol and literally having no quality check whatsoever.
Why am I lowering myself to them? They are scamming people out of donations that could be given to the authors, and in return, they given the minimum effort in scanlation. Not anymore, I say, with help from both Fap It Scans and Les Poroïniens, my ego be damned, all in on quality. They can release as fast they want, calling it "translation", but I know, in some part of the readers, they will prefer our quality, over their quantity. Call me petty, call me pathetic, but quality will never lie, and it seems to me, Mylene doesn't have any.
(P.S. Also, we are gonna remaster all of my (Senko-san's Version) chapters, with better quality too!)
