“I want to have this every day”
Is such a simple innocuous comment, it’s quite a stretch to think that means I want to marry you. Is it a translation thing? In Japanese is there a double meaning?

It’s just such a common trope and I don’t get it.
I did a bit of digging. Apparently, it first appeared in Maison Ikokku (1980~1987) by Takahashi Rumiko (Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha). In the story, it wasn't spoken, and was just one of the lines the male protagonist thought of when coming up with lines for proposal in his head.

Also words like "for/ever-y" when in context with the significant other is basically a veiled proposal.
At least in manga and is almost always lampshaded as such.

This makes sense, Ishizumi is a good guy, no way he'd actually make a move on her while she's drunk. So, it had to be this kind of set up for him to actually do something.

Its a japanese thing.
Saying "I want to have this everyday" = "I want you to cook for me everyday"
Thats basically a proposal asking her to be his wife so she can keep cooking for him

Not expecting anything...it can be brushed off easily, like with a "what I meant is that it's so good that I could eat it every day without getting tired of it"

It has to do with the saying “I want to drink your miso soup everyday”. I believe it’s a very very old saying in Japan. I feel like the meaning is quite straightforward, but I digress.

Ishizumi proposed... A business opportunity to open a restaurant.

Yeah, that's pretty much what he meant there...
