I'm pretty sure I read another series with about the same premise here, except the person looked standard human all the time unless she stopped focussing or something like that. That one was way too short, too. For some reason a lot of the cool stuff that could get dragged out indefinitely while remaining enjoyable just fuckin' ends early. But then we get stuff that needed to end like 300 chapters earlier than it did so, so badly.
