Romance fantasy often has either some of the best female leads or some of the most rancid male leads and this is very much the latter. This goes beyond being picky, the guy is just a massive cunt, I don't know how can anyone be so shy to constantly insult their fiancée in her first life, and a persistent, disgusting creep who won't take "no" for an answer in the second. Of all the MLs who don't deserve a happy end that I've seen he's pretty high up there.

I was thinking that this was going to be a generic story where the guy actually loved the FML the first go around, but sucked at showing it terribly in the first life. Then he would also rewind up on finding out about her death and find a new resolve to express love to her properly. I would have been happy with this.

This was not the case and the way the story was done feels upsetting because the second time around doesn't make sense if he actually hated her in the first go round.

Again with a wishy washy plot line. The guy was a jerk. Why was it solely on her to fix it? He absolutely should have realized and apologized. She had every right to decide not to follow those same footsteps. I'm happy he didn't just change but he definitely should have worked harder and explained sooner. This doesn't feel like a romance or anything at all... I guess it feels a bit like a waste?

This could be marginally better if we got to see the ML's regrets he may of had in the first timeline. But insulting people to hide one's shyness is a goddamn awful excuse and he shouldn't have gotten away with that. Like, how in the world is he being raised to insult people first and be "kind" to get what he wants?!

Second one is already a massive letdown.

Even though in his second life he'd done nothing wrong (besides quite persistent stalking) I felt zero desire to root for the guy and fmc's deep-seated hatred for him appeared to be rather shallow after all.

So this story is just meant for people who think women must act demure and weak for men to like them, and believe they will never have a loving husband if the wife has a personality or talks back?

I was waiting to see if he also rewound back and was trying to right his wrongs, but genuinely the message here is that both their lives "changed for the better" because she decided to be super passive and hold her tongue, and I hate that.

Part of me is curious how the author could try to convince me that somehow this guy who can only operate in terms of "insulting his fiancée" and "refusing to accept a rejection" is worth consideration but then I remember that they lost me with the very premise because this guy is fundamentally garbage.

Ah, technically she became super active at playing hard to get (and she wasn't particularly silent about not wanting to get together, she was only silent about why - the latter because it would sound insane at the level of 'you were mean to me in a dream' levels)
