that went a lot faster than i expected. i wonder how the next chapters will progress. usually with this genre, it takes several chapters to kill off one then a few to kill off the next. man just speedruns his entire class in 1 chapter.

Well, this is already throwing off expectations. Usually you'd get them trying to round up classmates and show people being chased individually, but nope. Shibata really wasted no time. Also the plain art style is really working here, adds to the surreal nature of everything more than if it went super-detailed and tried for realism.
