Can someone clue me in as to why this is so lowly rated? I can see people dislike the premise of players returning over and over again to death-games, but that alone shouldn't be enough for it to be so low. Esecially when there aren't any big issues with it otherwise.

It’s probably more of a case of being unknown. In the extremest of examples, a great work could have been seen once and the guy who reviewed it just give it low ratings. The work therefore is low rated, despite being a great work.

A remedy to this is to use something like Bayesian average which takes in to account mean ratings of all works to establish an assumptive score to correct ratings in cases of low voter count.

Math and nerd aside. Watch this jump to 8.9 after anime comes and people see how good it is.

Didn't really expect this one to get an anime. And it's about to start in the next airing season it seems.
Just found out this existed like 2 months ago. If only it happened more often for series I randomly pick up to get this treatment.
Sometimes these odd timings, like an ignored serie suddently getting new chapters translated only to have an anime announcement few months later or the adaptation starting airing, make me wonder if some scan groups are actually paid or run by the publishers themselves, as a way to viral advertise their serie before an announcement.

Regardless, just hope the translation of the chapters will continue after the anime starts or when it's over, there are so many untranslated raws for this one. Like 10 more chapters.

And I really want to see the end of the spa deathgame completely translated. (which hasn't even started yet by the current translated chapters)

I can’t, both manga and anime, go through it after the first part. It really wrecked me mentally.

It is not bad at all and I like the artwork for it, I am just not good with this type of genre.

May the anime continue on and eventually get completed even though I will not be watching it!
