@shrike I have a strong feeling you are going to get your wish. This series screams "Thanks for saving me gonna go to the afterlife now or fuck off to nowhere for reasons" like in Sankarea. Personally I would perfer doll girl because her hair is cute and I like the weirdo types like the girl from Another but that doesn't really matter. I like the story and the art and can't wait to read more.

Gonna throw a crackpot theory right out the gate. Childhood friend did it because she was mad he forgot her birthday. It also works because in Scooby-Doo the first person they meet is always the culprit.

@nachtness, wait, you really see the MC as retarded? I mean, yes he's dense but he actually cherish his childhood friend's birthday, it's even revealed that if he knows that she still remember the marriage promise, he's going to go through with it. Not to mention his wit about dangers and how fast he understand the supernatural nature of the whole incident thing. His denseness is actually on a pretty realistic scale for a highschooler. He's more carefree than retarded, unless you saw no difference between the two.
