In some ways this is actually scarier. That's what psychopaths mostly do in real life - they lie, manipulate and control, and often they do that by being charming, friendly and affable. They make people dependent on them, they offer them things they want to get the things that they want.

People really ask for something different until they get it. She's a yandere manipulator who actually both cares for the MC and also clearly isn't making his life better! She's a sociopath building a cult harem and everyone's letting her cook because she has enough charisma to make them believe that she can deliver eventually! She killed her dad and made her new dad fall so hard for her that he tried to commit double suicide based on an implication! She really is some sort of Shihai Shoujo Kubaru-chan! This series is actually doing the thing amidst piles of complete "I have a disturbing vibe to get people interested but actually I'm just a generic love interest" slop!

That said, the mangaka could always pull a Nagatoro serialization drop on us so I'm prepared for the worst. But so far it's been pretty consistent, looking forward to the next cultist.
