Still entertaining but it does feel like the "screw the rules, I have money" aspect does take away some of the dramatic tension. If she had, through stalking or spying, found dirt on the father, personal (infidelity, etc...) or professional (embezzlement, etc...) it could have moved the plot in the same direction.
