I get the feeling that Sage, like Guide, doesn't have an impulse, at least not a notable one, and that's part of Ares problem. He isn't getting any feedback from his blessing, yet still trying to live in accordance with his blessing. There isn't anything there for him to live in accordance with, and so he made up a path and is trying desperately to follow it. I would go farther to suggest that Sage and Guide both lacking a notable impulse is due to them having the same purpose of guiding and providing advice, and that too much of an impulse would interfere with that purpose and narrow their view.
Actually both Sage and Guide have very strong impulses. Guide wants to help bring out someone's full potential while it seems like Sage wants to min-max and using people to their full potential. Gideon's blessing perfectly complimented his personality and desires, so perfectly that his blessing never needed to "correct" him via impulses. Ares is a fucking idiot so his blessing which basically requires you to be observant and pragmatic turned him into a power-tripping egoist. The problem has always been blessings going to people who simply are not suited to them and potentially actively working against their desires

Guy that can see blessings was somehow unconcerned that a former companion (who was actually a demon in disguise) didn't have a blessing?

Guy follows some weird logic about blessings relating to civilizations and demons were in the same boat ignores the fact that demons don't have blessings? A fact that he noted out loud not 1 minute prior?

It is ironic in a dumb way.

This sleazy little piece of shit is saying how people should act on their own blessings, and that most don't have the luck to be born with a blessing that complements them... and here he is, as far as the idea of a "sage" as it is possible.

A sad little boy, grasping at straws, trying to justify his desires clinging to the idea that he is some secret chosen one, accepting the most inane and asinine compliments puked at him, and this isn't because he is desperate now... that demon could have threw up that spiel when Ares was "sound of mind" and he still would have eaten it up.

He didn't check the fake Danan's blessing because why would he need to check the blessing of his companion? Given he has to put forth some effort to check, he simply accepted 'oh it's that fist guy he can help me out.' Showing how he's actually dum as fuck.

Honestly I don’t get the Asura demons angle here. He knows that the hero will stop being the hero and that this is a great opportunity to conquer the human world but he’s messing around here instead. Honestly he should just kill the sage and then achieve world domination with the demon king. All that he’s doing now is going to waste this opportunity he was given to achieve his goals

So the lack of effective impulses in either case is due to extremes of suitability and extreme lack thereof. Gideon never gets an impulse because there isn't a need, and Ares never gets useful feedback because he's such a fuckup he has never done it right. I didn't think things would make Ares even more pathetic. At least he's a limbo champion, because the bar keeps going lower but he consistently finds a way under it.

I don't think he wants world domination. In this chapter he even said that because he doesn't have any blessing, the Demon King's desire to follow his blessing and conquer the world is a foolish thing.

Sorry i was being a tad hyperbolic there about the WD. So far the series has shown the goal of the demons is to defeat the races other than demons and take their land and was figuring that was Asura's goal as well.

Also dont they technically have blessings but in a different form? Isnt that why that one underworld leader went all kill happy cause the demon blessing overtook his normal blessing and said demon blessing was a killing type one?

Asura demon in particular don't have a blessing, so I assume he really does feel left out in this whole God's plan thing. We don't really know if he follows the demon king or if he has his own plan with the first hero stuff.

How many other people skipped through the ~10 pages of his backstory because they couldn't give less of a shit and just want him dead?

Hey, moron, isn't it kinda ironic that you're the one who's actually trying to counteract against your own blessing, the hardest one, when you're forcing others to follow theirs? Doesn't this mean that you're actually a hypocritus moronicus? Go buy yourself a mirror and look at your own backstory first, idiot.

He truly is pitiful, huh.
Is it wrong that I'm more interested in how his two sisters were married off to the same guy than whole Ares' backstory?
