Read it for yourself.

The relationship between Red and Lislet (Lit) is more realistically slow (compared to the rushed crap of other fantasy novels) given that this is a first for both of them. Since neither of them know what they're doing in this relationship, they're sort of just cutely fumbling around with somewhat romantic stuff and co-owning the shop. (The title is "Slow Life on the Frontier" for a reason!)
The relationship between them builds over time; by Chapter 54-55 (when Ruti finally meets him, for those curious) he states that he is living with Lislet and intends to marry her.

The chapter titles are somewhat spoiler-ish; You can kinda guess what happens in the chapter from the title alone.
For example:
Chapter 54 ("The Story Begins Here") is where Ruti and Gideon finally find each other.
Chapter 41 ("Birth of a Hero") Albert the B-ranker (His class is "Champion") who tried to threaten Gideon before goes mad with his fame as Zoltan's "hero", forms a contract with a demon, and attempts to cause a revolution in order to turn Zoltan into a military state and join the fight against the Demon Lord alongside the other Heroes, convinced that Red is also a "hero".
Chapter 42 ("The End of a Man who Tried to be a Hero") Gideon with his crappy copper sword defeats Albert and his vorpal sword, and the revolution ends in a failure.
Chapter 79 ("Hero vs Sage") Ruti vs Ares
Remember Shisandan, the Asura Demon that killed Lit's master and impersonated him? He apparently survived (somehow), and he tricked Ares into trying to kill Gideon and giving Ruti a sword that would force her Hero class to awaken.
Chapter 81 ("Thunderwaker's Final Brilliance") Gideon vs Ares
Chapter 82 ("Copper Sword") Gideon and co. vs Ruti driven mad by her Divine Blessing(s)
Chapter 83 ("End of the Fight") Self-explanatory

Manga is at the equivalent of Chapter 25 (Hero Ruti's Night Alone).

Novel translation is currently at 155, and still updating.

It's just me or there is a flaw in the tl? Why did you translate "Mirareta" with the Kanji 見 "Mi"(see or 見る= too see) like "Knows"?... Why not "Saw" like "He saw"

Ares (the Sage) is from a fallen noble line.
He wants to resurrect said noble line.
To do that, he wants to bang the Hero and become world-famous hero.
Hero Ruti only visibly cares about Gideon.
Ares makes Gideon disappear, thinking that he could support her instead.
Ruti wants to throttle him into oblivion but can't because Heroes can't kill their comrades.
Honestly, it's not that complicated.

Ares is an elitist with a "superior" class based on intellect and magic, so he acts like he's smarter than everyone.

Gideon's Guide class literally just gives him a higher starting level (and the equivalent stats). That's it.
He's not OP in the slightest.
In this universe where everyone is a specialist, Gideon is special because he learned how to do lots of things without ever relying on god-given skills.
Since his generalist class can't offer anything special on its own, he mitigated that with his own arsenal of personal, non-class skills that he learned with practice.

Gideon is a self-learned jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none that filled the gaps in a party full of only specialists.
He's not as good as the specialists, but he's far more versatile and flexible.
His class is arguably the worst in the hero party, but Gideon himself is arguably the most useful member of the team.
He takes the specialist-driven model used by the rest of the world and chucks it out the nearest window.
He's the special exception in the entire world.
That's why the elitist Sage hates him so much: A person with an inferior class is somehow better.

@PhoenixStriker5251 Ahh, so Ares is someone who spends too long on Reddit/Twitter/4Chan/Whatever website suits your preferences and thinks they're better than everyone else.

If Red seems OP at this point in the story, some of it has to do with the fact that he moved to the backwater middle of nowhere rather than him being objectively very strong. He's a big fish in a little pond.

Those are some fked up curses diving blessing. Hero is just a machine to kill the demon king.

Wow
in the Novel, I thought that punch that "scrambled his inside" was just a metaphor for a very painful gut punch...
she just outright demolished his sides.

also @pg27

Hahaha she found a loophole. I mean... She just needs to beat the f-er until half dead.. Heal him and beat him again to vent her frustrations. That's not going again the hero code.
Many thanks

What makes it funny is
Gideon was supposed to be dead when his role was fulfilled (probably with some tragic incident or something), had he still be in hero party. So had Ares didn't do that and got along with Gideon, he might end up filling the hero's heart when that happened. But his sage job making him egoistical that he felt insecure to Gideon.

@unime sadly, no. This was just a freak critical mass. The novel described it as a fond memory because it was the only time she was able to go against the impetus of her divine blessing, if only for a moment.

@PhoenixStriker5251 he also juiced the "normal" skills to max levels since he doesn't have access to specialist skills, granting several "mastery" bonuses that hardly anyone else even knows exists and helps him be a god of all-rounders.

All he had to do was friend Gideon and to wait for him to ultimately die due to his 'powerlessness', Have Ruti take out of anger on her enemy and then come in and make her feel better from her loss, instead he chases the brother away leaving him alive with a chance for ruti to see him again, at the same time getting on her bad side as the mother fker that forced the brother out.... aka sage is a god damn moron who is shortsighted by his own pride and deserves everything he gets, much more gruesome then i remember, but satisfying

The obvious solution is to kick the sage out of the party herself. being the "leader" she just needs to say "you are out of the party" making him no longer a comrade, then just one punch him again and dont heal him.

I really feel bad for Ruti and Alice completely deserves being beaten up half-dead for removing the only source of her happiness... It feels like these blessings are more of a curse as it binds them to their role... Those gods playing with human lives again... sigh...
