I like how Levius seems like an actual character and that he wasn't framed as if he was a villain or some bad guy trying to take all the credit.

I like how he has guilt and remorse, and is suffering both from impostor syndrome and the trauma of losing all his friends and loved ones.

Fuck that's good conflict.

Well, Shion let the dude who stole it live... cuz he's a little pussy... So the thief must have told the authorities that Shion has the sword.

@quagzlor
He probably feels robbed. He understands the sacrifice that Shion has made, but he also despises that the kid was born with such cheat stats. This "hero" is just good with the sword, while Shion basically has maxed stats. He can use attack and support magic, fight with a sword and bare-handed, and he's probably got better agility than a circus performer.

@JProllz
Great, now this manga is only like 29% ecchi filler garbage. I guarantee this hero is gonna show up at the mansion to find Shion in a sweaty tangle with the maids missing most of their clothes, because the author can't decide what subgenre of "Cheat skill hero fantasy" this manga is.

Yes, he seems like he's a tool character, I get that.
But:
>Instantly assumes Shion did it.
is ultimately what irks me.
All any of them in the capital should know is that bandits stole treasures from the armory, one of which being the holy sword. So he should, for all intensive purposes, be looking for bandits.

Thus, plot contrivance.

@MrMcNasty
May want to reread again, he did not let him live. Gareru Gear dies at the end of chapter 2, to Shion's passive energy drain curse. He grabs him in the last pages of said chapter, in fact, which instantly kills him off panel.

@Vasqueztion If you would just take in account that he was gone for a month, he could be given any information and choose not to second guess it because it is just as such.

Though since it wasn't mentioned anywhere that he has it, it could be that he's just placing the blame instinctively or perhaps there was a previous happening where someone tried to steal the sword and the sword pulled the thief towards the hero.

Also... 5 man party with a cursed hero, a drunk magician, an addicted martial artist, a suicidal priest and a inferiority complex swordsman...
I haven't seen a all male hero party since the 10 years later hero's party after the healer got knocked up by the prince?king? of that party before they challenged the portal... Or maybe the immortal 3 person party that went after the hiddenX#? boss and let the girls leave because they were getting close to 30 and the girls started thinking that they want to get married before they become old crones...

It seems to me that he isn't so much "assuming that Shion did it" as he is "guessing that the sword is probably in Shion's hands by now because Fate likes f*cking this swordsman over and what better way to screw with him than to make him fetch a holy weapon he can't use for a bunch of pretentious noblemen and royalty from a blameless, unfairly-tortured-then-exiled child soldier/"hero" that is not only ALSO being F*cked over by Fate but is also the one who (unintentionally) stole his spotlight".

At least the "fake" hero acknowledges that most of his accomplishments are not actually his.

Ahem... You're incorrect. Page 2 (excluding the translator's page) of Chapter 3.

He's so used to having his inferiority rubbed in his face that he just assumes that fate would make him (the false hero who had all of Shion's accomplishments, fame, and titles dumped onto him) talk to Shion (the actual hero who was discarded after his usefulness had expired, who also overshadowed the prodigious false hero at every step of his life).
