Wow, I know licking blades are a villain trope in manga and anime, but it's rare for me that the one doing the licking this time is a pretty woman and not the usual bandit-looking ugly bastard. Amelia is literally bloodthirsty.

Alright, so they didn't recognize the attackers as soldiers from Mekia. The colonel made a grave mistake not sending a messenger immediately to send word that the fort is under attack by unknown forces. Amelia casually revealed their allegiance because she's confident they can annihilate the Empire's knights in the fort. This raid really is something like Pearl Harbor, a surprise major attack on a resting opponent who is not at war with them. Except the Empire has no idea it was Mekia who attacked, and when they discover the massacre in the fort they'll probably blame the Furnest Kingdom because it's much closer to their border.

Eh, Amelia licked her blade but didn't fully commit to the evil villain act by telling him his wife is pregnant. Next she said she'll miss his vitals, but stabs him in the heart anyway. In other words, she lied. Interestingly, Guiel's final thoughts are of Rosenmarie and not his wife and daughters...
