If betaMC was given command by the queen that means he outranks anyone but the queen for the completion of this task, but betaMC gotta stay beta and genericStupidGeneral gotta stay stupid so that betaMC can show how (actually not) smart he is!
Time for a droooooop.

It IS getting long. Classic case of "Okay I hadn't planned my story up to that point soooo... let's add some filler story until I come up with something" :)

what an utterly useless chapter. As long as it takes, this dragging out of shit is getting really annoying. Like get to the point already. This school ark is very boring as it is.

Oh yeah ... Blowhards are gonna Blow Hard ... and they still manage to blow ... hard.

And another thing, if I have authority from the Queen herself, and you show up with authority of an heir ... who has rank? Somebody is gonna get his shit pushed in ... and it will probably be about as painful as that sounds ... LOL.

@alacaelum The summary is clear and much appreciated, thanks!

While I've been liking the worldbuilding on Albion a lot (a much needed insight into the superpower they're working for), I must agree with those who said that this arc drags on. This chapter served mostly to reveal who the mastermind was and why it isn't that easy to break the rebels by force. However, the reveal could have happened in earlier chapters, and their impregnable situation from a military point of view could have easily been included in the chapter's explanation about their food and supplies, instead of giving so many pages to the colonel.

Its weird but given the information they do have, the weapons and their supplies, the correct move probably is to just w8 a month for them to starve to death and collect information in the mean time. Sieges are incredibly costly and if you have already managed to cut off their supplies and you are in no push for time, just let them starve.

Remember when radios and "futuristic" weaponry was a thing for a while. I swear there could have been major technological advancements in the time this arc has spent building up to what I bet ultimately ends in a slow burn climax where nothing major is changed, our MC and his group just move on to the next arc, with maybe a beach chapter to break up the arcs.

I don't believe this chapter is useless filler, If they just resolved the problem in this chapter the pacing wouldn't feels right, and i believe that every battle need a starting point.

Also, come on guys, i'm sure you want to forget that the queen ordered them to not kill the students, that including not letting them die out of starvation, killed by people, or killing themselves. But let's not! I mean, they are not even enemies. They are kids of many leading figures. It would more problematic if they ded. The problem is not how to defeat them but how to resolve the problem.

People who have a problem with the ark in general are just letting their bias cloud their judgement. It's incorrect to call the beginning of the battle filler, every battle has to have a starting point and necessary overview as to why and how it gets resolved. Otherwise you just have, and are in the middle of, fighting with no explanation or context whatsoever. Asking to rush that is just bad story telling, and the only reason people seem to have to problem with that kind of illogical jump forward is because they don't like the arc in general and are simply letting their biases shoot off weak criticisms now. Other aspects of the story may legitimately bother you but this chapter in particular is not one of them because EVERY story that has a major battle HAS to do these kinds of expositions unless you want to ask god to bend time and space to speed up the emptiness in your lives while you're at it.

This isn't your typical rebellion dude. The ones doing it are the children of the elite being manipulated into becoming martyrs for a cause. That first suicide rules out waiting too long because they're all politically sensitive hostages and you can't have them committing suicide in droves. The worst possible outcome here is the loss of their lives because it throws a not insignificant damper on the fresh blood coming into ruling workforce and it'll cause a major political stir. You can't even rule out a Masada situation here given how frenzied they are.

The best options are to either infiltrate and open up their vulnerabilities or a major shock and awe move to throw them into disarray. Whichever way, the key is to overwhelm them before they can regroup and take their countermeasures. Seems like the go to option for Kai here is to get back into the academy and get some boobjuice to take out the fortress and he'll probably do it by sending over Richard and himself together as negotiators.
