I don't think it's appropriate to call this story a thriller. The story is extremely straightforward; the only thing keeping the plot alive is contrivances at key moments (ex., phone calls interrupting conversations, waiters interrupting conversations, Haruto showing up to stop Mahoro from confronting Rei and Rio) and the monotony of Mahoro scheming over and over while Rei and Rio walk into her traps unsuspectingly and repeatedly.

The only thing left for Mahoro is to get hard evidence of Rei's infidelity. But, it's hard to stay invested when you know in the next chapter everything will go as planned. I'll be shocked if the contents of the bag are anything other than a damning piece of evidence similar to the first time. Maybe we'll be misdirected and it's actually a love note from her boytoy, Haruto, or a Rei's subscription to Chauvinist Monthly getting delivered, but I doubt it.

Sadly this is common not only in Japan, but in every place where the wife is the one who supposedly take care of the house. Womans who give-up the career to be a housewife turn economically dependent of their husband, wich turn in this kind of situation when the wedding start to fall.

They foreshadowed it from early on, with even the in-story characters themselves suspecting her first before anyone else, then the author hoodwinked viewers into getting distracted with other characters as suspects.

Author pulled a jedi mind trick and made viewers think the obvious answer right in front of them was not the answer.
