Interesting to note that she takes Mahoro at complete face value when they're both covering up the truth.

Seeing Rio's jealousy in full swing though, I'm not certain they could have salvaged things even if everyone had been honest from the start. Rio seems so prideful and wanting to appear 'better' and more put together, that some sort of crashout might have been inevitable for her.

It just so happened to be one that destroyed their friend group and at least one marriage.

Rio is definitely not a girl's girl for belittling Mahoro learning she's not the perfect maid to her master when she should know better than most that there's no pleasing men like that. No matter how much effort you can do, because they mostly get off on sitting back doing nothing while judging everything. It's all about that feeling of control over a woman soothing their little ego.

Also this entire story keeps being a PSA to be honest with your (real) friends. Why were Rio and Mahoro so intent to lie and not correct the (frankly a bit callous) assumptions about their couples? Why keep alive a lie instead having support and advice to fix reality or even encouragment to start on a clean slate with someone more better?

I wonder if this spinoff is building up to extend past the main story's ending because otherwise, it might be a bit infuriating to never see Rio reflect on all her mistakes while we have her POV here

Rei's constant habit of gossiping about Mahoro behind her back and giving everybody he knows the impression she's a lazy and bad wife is par for the course at this point.

Having found at now that Mahoro wasn't being 100% honest about their marriage, Rio is taking it as justification to go after Rei to get back at Mahoro in a petty way after agonizing and comparing her marriage to Mahoro's this whole time.

The author also making it blatant how in her own head Rio is, when Rei's co-worker outright says, "of course you can never tell what's real or not, this is 'Rei' we are talking about". She's only met Rei like 3-ish times up to this point so she has no idea how much he could be exaggerating and basically self-confirms that he's telling the truth.

Nosebleed was saying on Reddit that they finally managed to acquire them after a lot of riggamarole, so we should be graced with those after this Rio Explanation is completed.

I get that Rio is like this because her hubby is kinda psycho and she is fucked up in head too, but this Rei guy is just genuinely bad bad person and all that probably because he is a spoiled brat and his mom is always enable this kinda behaviour because she just see him as "my precious innocent baby".

I hope we can see how struggle Rei and his mom life after Itsuki sue him, i need that!

Yikes, now I wasn't expecting to have a complete 180 on my opinion on Rio; but I wasn't expecting to hate her more with a factor rather than a percentage.

Given the blame game they played when they got caught, I was expecting Rei to be the one to come onto her; but this is complete seduction attempt.
