Let's say the year is 2010(easy math). He turned 15 in Aug '10. School started Sept 1st. She wouldn't turn 15 until her birthday the next year, Feb '11. When the school year ends, in say March, both of them will be 15, but she was still born the year after he was.

As a very minor example, shouyu. I know what it is. A decent number of people can guess what it is. But it's bad translation. Why? Because you didn't want to write the direct English translation of soy sauce? Because shouyu somehow conveys a different meaning? It doesn't. This isn't a case of some lost nuance. They are literally direct translations.

But that's not the only example in this chapter. There are others. The untranslated Japanese phrasing in romaji because the translator feels like it. The translator feels like making it bad.

As a completely side issue, the mother says the breakfast is the first family meal together? We literally just saw a flashback of dinner. Does that not count because it wasn't at the house? That's stupid. And no, this isn't a translation issue. And no, this isn't a big deal. It's a very minor thing. But still weird.
