Bans and restrictions are only reserved for the most egregious cards, your sideboard should cover edge cases your main deck can't handle. Mtg has a huge pool of cards for just about every conceivable scenario and it's your job to figure out which one matters to you.

MTG can be played casually but gets cold and unforgiving the higher you go in competitiveness to the point of resembling competitivene poker.

Fact Or Fiction is a classic example of complex decision making and mind games in mtg, leading to the slang EOTOFYL thanks to its ability to set up wins.
