i planned to watch the (multiple) continuations but they looked so shit that i didn't bother. it looks like Lelouch is actually alive after the events of R2? and it's not set in an alternate universe? regardless even that can't bring me to watch

I think the new anime is set in the movie timeline where Lelouch and Shirley are both alive. I still think it's a bad decision to bring Shirley back to life, she seemed like half the reason why Lelouch finally went all in on saving the country. I read some of the manga for the alternative timeline, and it seems good actually (though I haven't caught up to the newest one).
