Editorial probably wouldn't have allowed it even if that was the story he wanted to tell. But honestly the plot of this manga doesn't feel like an editorial mandate. I think it's actually what Reiji wanted to write, even if I am firmly in the "it would be better if they were blood related" camp.

It’s funny because that’s exactly why I think the plot IS an editorial mandate. Despite the hate RAG is clearly his passion project and this just feels shallow in comparison. I think he truly wanted to do blood related but they said no like you said. Multiple points in the manga lowkey scream it at you in my opinion.

Why did you call that guy an incel when he told the truth we don’t really know if someone took Banri’s V-card, but that doesn’t matter anyway because the real problem is what a hopeless and simply stupid character Banri is.

She literally let herself be blackmailed by some guy while being the daughter of the richest man in that universe, she deceived her whole family and you could say she even made fun of Arata when he was worried about her, pretended to be happy in front of her whole family, and then it turns out that the guy gets punched once in the face by Arata, stands up, stomps his foot, and leaves really “dangerous” guy that was. “That whole plot and Banri’s character are pathetic.”

Banri went from being a nice, cool older sister to a damsel in distress with a negative IQ, as well as a character who isn’t even trustworthy.

We get it, the girls like Arata and he's extremely confused. How about letting him express any hint of romantic interest or disinterest in one or two of them? Just for a change?
