I think it would have been more satisfying if the gun had been destroyed and then MC let his over worked goons 'resolve' their own issues on the guy - it would have mirrored the beginning with how MC felt betrayed and abandoned by his classmates, by having the scumbag be betrayed and abandoned by his gang peers.

Japanese writers seem to have a really hard time writing satisfying ends to bullies and scumbag like this guy - too often giving them clean deaths, or worse, the MC forgives them.
