I mean, it's cute. If MC had no shame and hesitation, all we'll end up with is smut.I know the Japanese tend to be shy, doubly so for otakus, but must the wish-fulfillment audience-surrogate MC be a pussy?
Is this necessary to keep the never-bloomer teenlike romance?
yeah, no thanks, I'll wait until someone else picks this up, I don't need zoomer brainrot in my mangasussy baka on page 2
I suppose... but it's frustrating.I mean, it's cute. If MC had no shame and hesitation, all we'll end up with is smut.
But then you don't get catgirl butt pats and sweaty dragon girl at the same time.I suppose... but it's frustrating.
This could be solved by having only one love interest for the MC with whom he gets closer in a traditional courtship without fornication for a year or two, lasting a hundred chapters. You still get the shyness, but with progression, and without smut or cowardice.
That just begs the question. Either go for smut or be wholesome. Vacillating in the middle of the crossroads leads to mediocrity. But then you don't get catgirl butt pats and sweaty dragon girl at the same time.
A lot of the greats actually don't go all the way. Subtleties, euphemisms, references - they would have all these but no sex nor bare nipples. Artists get to be creative with teetering the line, but not outright showing everything. It's like the difference between "panchira" and "hatenai".That just begs the question. I get it. Just saying, it could be done better. The softcore harem stuff ends up with the MC needing to be a coward.A lot of the greats actually don't go all the way. Agreed. I honestly can't believe that MTL would put in things like "sussy baka" and "my bad ig", but I suppose even machines aren't immune from being poisoned by that kind of idiotic speech.
Unless you're trying to find an equivalent for Japanese slang in the original, The use of English slang in translations is one of my peeves. Especially the more fleeting or niche ones that are popular for a few months then every forgets it was ever a thing. Honstly I was scratching my head on that "my bad ig" thing, almost thought it was a typo or somehow the typesetting of the full sentence got cut off until I read Krenn's postAfter the "sussy bakas" bit I did keep readin, but I found another thing:
page 6, bottom left: the "my bad ig"
don't use "ig". Write "I guess." It's not like there wasn't room in the bubble for the full words, and this isn't text messages. If someone stumbles along to read this a few years later the abbreviated form may have faded from use and nobody will know what that is.
