His name is (ゲラード) directly translated to "Ge" "Ra" "To"
So I suppose he really is a gelato

Oh yeah, If I think about it a bit more, I Think it suppose to be "Gerald" but I already pressed the upload button so I guess that's his name now.

and also it's quite funny so why not?

Wouldn't be the first time a guy's name get stuck from a typo.
Damuel from Bookworm series.

His name was supposed to be the generic Samuel.
But author fat-fingered to D instead of S.

And by the time they realized, fans already were questioning things like is he Damuel because he's a failure/loser (da-me) or such.

Okay, those "prisoners of calamity" definitely used to be human, right? You don't just use terms like "prisoner" and "metamorphosis" in the context of monsters and not imply that they're cursed humans.
I don't think 獄禍 is an actual word as such (correct me if I'm wrong), but given it can apply to humans, cubes of rock and animals, I'd go for a figurative translation rather than a literal one. If you take it literally it is just "jail - evil/calamity".

We also don't know currently if they used to be humans as a rule, since one of them was, literally, a cube. We have no understanding of what they're for, how they're caused, or how they fit into anything else, in lore.

This is one of the annoying parts of translating this stuff.
獄禍 - gokuka - prison + calamity
変転 - henten - just transformation/changing forms

I'd make the argument that while "Prisoner of calamity" is sort-of accurate, but I think the meaning of gokuka is more implying that the entity/being itself is a sort-of enforced state of whatever becomes the calamity, or a container of calamity. It's more metaphorical than literal.

... However, how does one say "An entity that has been imprisoned in a mysterious malevolent calamitous form" in an elegant way without just going "prisoner of calamity", which has its own connotations.
It's 3 AM, but if I were translating this I'd probably just define a term for them and go like "Fell Vessel" for gokuka, and for gokuka henten I'd make it less clinical and say something like "The formation of a Fell Vessel".

But eh, I'm not the translator and it's been several years since I regularly spoke or wrote Japanese, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Majere's cute

Btw, why is she loyal to the empire now? I thought she just wanted to beat all heroes and be the strongest or something like that.

If so, the one who became a square cube clearly drew the short straw on life.

I keep forgetting that the little girl was a grizzled old man in their previous life. Psyche changes and what not?
Honestly, I think exploring the psyche of characters like this who have to deal with being treated like a young kid, as well as perhaps having their sense of self eroded by new body/kid impulses, as something ripe for exploration(beyond just gags/humor).

I don't know I think he was like that on his previous life, but his grizzled face didn't make the expressions as cute.

If you read the first chapter again her personality doesn't really change from when she was an old man especially the way he treats the mage at first. And he went rushing off to meet the hero.

It's kinda also noted in the previous chapter she's has a child's mind, because even as an old man she was following a childish dream.

She does get excited easily but its more that she can now do things she couldn't before.

If you read,

Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja, there is a point where the MC snaps at being treating like a child all the time and asks to made to look like an onee-san.

Sol on the other hand just seems happy to be living a second life and making the most of it.

If you look at it from her perspective she was old and far from her dream. Being obsessed with a single goal like she was she probably didn't notice things like gender on a battlefield.

She's making the most of her second life, like a person whose finally free.

Ugh and here I thought she will finally get rid of that buggy ass outfit, personally I don't like her current fit and would prefer for something more decent. Specially for fighting, and an outfit fit for a little girl.

Also, I know I am nitpicking here so this is just for me, can she atleast tie her own hair? Isn't fighting uncomfortable with a long hair flowing all around the battlefield distracting?
