If this becomes dark psychological yuri, I'm out. Reading it invokes the same revolted feeling in me as NTR.

it's so over their attachment styles give me brain damage and I'm totally obsessed

I'm not kidding, I read 300+ chapters of the translated web novel in 2 days and they only get stupider and I only got stupider

Theres no tag, but feels like this is going in a dark direction of psychological drama. Hopefully im wrong, because it would spoil for me.

Feels like an understandable push-back against the like, literal decades of yuri being almost exclusively cute fluffy chaste romance.

One of the things I really like about this series is how
neither of them really knows they're gay exactly, but they DO know what they like. So they get into this big game of flirty gay chicken where they keep daring the other person to escalate things, all while insisting that they don't really care. Haha, I'm so not into you that I could even kiss you and not be weird about it.... So dare me to kiss you, unless you wanna admit you're gay for me.

It feels very realistic to a lot of teenage sexual exploration, especially in places where being gay just ain't really talked about.
I don't even think this is even that toxic, as someone who's not normally a fan.
Guess part of it is just the knowledge they could end it if they wanted

Hmm, I don't know--I mean Citrus isn't that new, and for whatever reason became a sort of standard bearer. And now we have some of the best fluffy chaste romance, like Hana ni Arashi. I think it's more like, finally yuri is not just a niche, it's a well-accepted category that's free to explore in all directions. We have stuff like I'm in Love with the Villainess, where a popular mainstream show finally has a girl just saying "yup, I'm gay" instead of monologuing about the strange, unexplainable feelings she has for one person who just happens to be a girl and isn't that funny?...

Kind of like how there used to be popular music and counterculture music, but now there are really no concrete expectations so there's just a giant blob of music out there of any sort you'd imagine. It's a good thing.
I’m all for the yuri that goes “Yup I’m gay” because fuck the manga that has yuri as tags but is just friendship,

at the same time I’m glad this has become more acceptable because i also roll my eyes out if i ever hear any more stupid “MC sexual” of the old days were the couple has to twist themself into a pretzel to justify(deny at the same time) their sexuality 0.0 like a contradiction to not even mean they are Bisexual but temporary gay for one women so they will go back to men after?!?! like it never made sense to me

Well...heteroflexibility is a thing, but certainly it was vastly overused as a way to add some kind of plausible deniability.

Honestly, what gets me annoyed now is how many times girls in a yuri story will say, "it's weird, right? We're both girls...it's weird for a girl to like another girl...girls can't be together." Like, people, it's the 2020s. You know gay and bi people exist. Even in Japan, they are pretty aware of this fact. Writers need to stop using that crutch. There's a million other things they can lean on: they could say it'll be a problem with their parents, or their friends, or whatever. But they need to stop pretending people get to high school without ever realizing that sometimes girls get with other girls.

This is thankfully not as prevalent as it was, but...really, at this point, no recent story should be using lines like that. And still, they do.

gay for one women
Arguably, this could be viewed as emphasizing the power of their OTP. Like Romeo and Juliet, true love will cross all bounds. And forget about thinking that either will be going back to men or women after. There is no after. Believe that the main couple's love will be life-long with a happy ending!

Usually, at least in these school life setting series, it is a first love situation and the series ends when they get together, unless it is some harem trash. For simplicity in reading, I'd assume Miyagi and Sendai are both gay but if they turned out bi- or uni-sexual only for each other, it wouldn't affect my view that they were destined only for each other.

In over 350 chapters of the WN, neither one of them even looks at or admires anyone else sexually for even 1 second, so it's impossible to say conclusively what their sexuality is. However, they are both very clear that they want to mark each other as belonging only to the other and Sendai in particular talks about wanting to wipe out everyone else in the world so that Miyagi is hers alone.

So the "gay for one woman" is inconclusive, but the "one woman" part is not. Maybe one day they'll get together and casually offer up thoughts that they think so-and-so on tv or who they pass by on the street is really sexy, providing more evidence about their sexuality, or actually have a discussion about it.

A quick check of Wikipedia's demographics of sexual orientation page has 87% of women identifying as completely heterosexual and 0.5% as completely homosexual. So at least one person in a yuri pairing being potentially receptive to men (if they weren't strictly for their OTP partner) would not be all that surprising.

While I read for the drama and romance, it's not like there can't be the same satisfying social commentary about the discrimination or pressures they might face, regardless of potential heteroflexibility. Also, there are no lack of series where at least one of the characters are out as 100% gay and have classmate problems as a result, if that is essential to people's enjoyment of a series. A couple of recent recommendations I've read are Kazama from Sasameki Koto, and Ayu from Making Progress on Yuri Before the Deadline.

Thank you for the chapter!

This whole series is S&M , their relationship is basically masterxslave relationship 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️
Only through high school, then they
drop that weird dynamic and it becomes an angsty lesbian situationship with Sendai giving a masterclass on yearning for like a hundred chapters
😭

Even though the acts are literal s&m play, I don't feel like calling the series s&m is accurate at all since
later on it becomes apparent that those acts were manifestations of insecurities and not like ... indicative of their actual and eventual sexual dynamic once they start actually having sex.

Looks like there won’t be an update for this month as they’re on holiday! As per the announcement on the official Shuukura Twitter account.

For those worried about toxicity, Sendai and Miyagi both grow in their relationship with each other and Miyagi especially becomes a lot more considerate of Sendai.

Don't worry It doesn't. It has some parts with a bit of drama but the web novel probably is one of the most heartwarming and cutest ones I've read alongside with Adachi to Shimamura (Actually Imo I consider both of them to be very similar).
