The character interactions as always are what make Eiji's manga work. Hachi having similar characteristics to other protagonists isn't a problem because there is something incredibly genuine about his writing. The humor is on point and he really likes using archetypes and tropes but playing with them so you're familiar and comfortable with them; then he yanks the rug out from under you to make you laugh.
Like of course it's a Shonen manga so a girl is gonna fall for him early and act mean towards him; but in an Eiji makes does it actually bother anyone? Or is it hilarious and capable of giving us great drama because his writing holds up?
