the writing is so off i can't understand how its popular and im not even against fanservice or ecchi i read/watch a whole bunch of them but here its just completely mediocre that i can't even appreciate the awesome art.

To put things in perspective, vol 10 of this manga sold 48k copies in a week, more than Beastar and We Never Learn in the same time period. In addition to being a Shueisha IP, it getting an anime was only a matter of time.

Jesus, these comments. I don't understand the herd mentality here, but the writing in this is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Some of the writing is solely for the hentai sure, but it's smut, what do people expect? Its not great but not terrible either. The execution is pretty bad in some places (some subtly would be nice) but in some areas it's actually pretty decent and maybe even really good. One of the biggest complaints is the MC. He's definitely a low point, but having a guy that's so dedicated to one girl despite the obstacles is actually very sweet...eventually. The problem is you don't see the payoff until much later in the story. I agree most of it he was pretty bland but if you stick around long enough I think he'll win some people over. Wish he he had some more flaws or struggles to feel more human, but thankfully the other characters, the art,and to some degree the plot somewhat make up for him. Also, some of the girls are way too horny/easy but again, its smut. Not really expecting much there. Point I'm trying to make is that it has some god parts to it, enough to carry it a bit. Especially with the virus themes in this it actually covers some smart topics. Its not entirely just soft porn. Definitely better than the rating it's gotten and definitely at least readable.
Also, for those wondering if there's NTR, you can relax, there isn't any so far. It definitely scares you with it a bit though, but for the most part this story is shockingly wholesome, at least relatively speaking, which is nice sometimes but I do like a little drama myself so I wouldn't have minded if they spiced it up more in the future.

Checked this out after the anime announcement and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised...
The story’s not even as bad as these people in the comments make it out to be. At least, I’ve seen and read shit that’s a helluva lot worse. This ain’t even half bad. I really hate these Westerners who promote an extremely Liberal propaganda.

@migh Breaking news: sex is the lowest common denominator for men and the easiest to sell.
There are a lot of terrible mangas of this type lately but this is not the worst. At least there is a story (as badly done as it is), there are some characters apart of the typical tropes (as badly developed as they are) and things try to move (as clumsy as they do).
The other manga about the slut wife competition is worse than this. Not much, don't go thinking this is high art.

Shouno Kotaro's art is sooooooooooo wasted in this shit... Just so people that havent read it can understando how bad this is: the spin-off of this series, Fantasia (that is drawn by a hentai artist just like this one), even tho its also pretty shitty, looks like a masterpiece compared to this one.

@mug3n i get what u mean and that u are only half defending it, but don't u think that the excuse that there is worse manga out there is kinda weak ? ofc, there is worse manga out there and the one u cited is far worse but this one is mediocre too and the fact that it is in the best sells of the year is just straight up disgusting for mangakas that are trying their best to do something narratively good and appealing.
the only redeemable quality of this manga is the art and the boobs and i think you can't deny that.
characters are mediocre or even worse but i dont have the words for that. every girls are blank and cliché and the boys are just either complete jerk or bland aswell, plot was ok in the beginning (even though it screamed of a self insert for a trash harem manga) but failed miserably after 15 chapters or so and it was a complete mess after that). in the end, its just an hentai with less sex scenes and really stretched and its not even like its some light hearted ecchi that u can appreciate like that, its full of stupid forced drama and the worse cliché that manga can give us.

This being in ANY best selling list is an INSULT to every mangaka out there. Now you can understand why some mangakas drop their works as soon as they get enough money to live the rest of their lifes, because working in an industry where your work can be in any way compared to something like THIS must be freaking degrading as an artist, and just having the thought that somewhat can choose to buy THIS instead of your work must be depressing as fuck.

I know this story is... there as loose as that is. But is this getting reviewed bombed?
I like the premise. Even if there are many lackluster parts, (the cult arc in my opinion). Like I thought this was, at the very least, entertaining or maybe i have never noticed how low the rating is.

@KoyzaDal Usually a story is interesting due to plot, character/character interaction, and/or action. The plot started out promising but kinda went "meh" when it was no longer the protagonist vs the world, character wise the protagonist is less interesting than his cohorts and also so many new characters were getting introduced that it's hard to keep track of who is important for what purpose, and the action is pretty tame. The stereotypes of America and China are pretty funny, but as far as intrigue goes it feels like the publishers are padding out the manga to keep it going when honestly it could have ended over 30 chapters ago.
