@parkourse It's not a deus ex machina. The same thing happened in the Russia chapters when they saw Sveta's past. That flashback chapter was something that both Spirits and Shy were experiencing not just the reader. It also (as the art shows) happened at the very beginning of the series when Shy saved Ikko, again those pages with Ikko's thoughts and fears were things Shy was experiecing too. So it's an actual ability of the bracelets that's already been established, just formalized and given a name which again makes sense given what they can already do like Shy says.

It's not Shy pulling an ability out of nowhere. It's something she now knows she can actively do though I'm guessing that Reasons will come up and prevent her from just doing it at the start of every fight.
