I think Kerbeck should at least be a Margrave, considering his actual status and the location of his fief.

Can be a translation issue. There isn't an equivalence to margrave/markgraf in the Sinosphere, at least not in China and Vietnam. I'm not sure about Japan's kazoku system but if it's based on old Chinese nobility with the basic five, you're either a count or a marquis. Well, I guess marquis would be closer to margrave, but it depends on the original Japanese title.
