I expect magical seed if girl's personality is bad the flower would be either dead or being a wild herb.

@Mojo: Same thoughts here. Though the story I remember was a sort of heirless king who gathered all the children in his domain and only one boy who showed up with an empty pot, and he became heir to the throne. Regardless, I'm interested in how this scenario would pan out; if it were like these sorts of character-identifying story or if it really is some magical plant.

At least one good girl in this harem of black haired/black eyes girls.
She really needed a friend, it's good to see.

Basically this chapter more or less seems to confirm that Eugene thought the MC left him, probably because of that scheming gal from their previous life telling him so. The engagement ring the prince buried is MC's engagement ring from the past life, which he somehow came into possession of early on in his life. The engagement ring that previous-life-Eugene's family has would be his ring from his engagement with the MC. Basically both think they other wrong them, but loved each other so much. I mean Eugene even went as far as making that engagement ring into a family heirloom even though his wife would have objected to it. This misunderstanding between the two was apparent from the last chapter, but even more so this chapter with the rings popping up.

Yes it was just his butler, the noble family wasn't even evil at all to start with. The butler's made to be very cunning and ruthless, willing to use and manipulate anyone for his goals. Especially since he's a powerful and influential duke in the present time. In a later arc, he even goes as far as inciting a civil war in one of the kingdom's lands just so to provide an origin cover story for a recruited agent of his to gain an invitation to the palace and put themselves between Liz and Keefa.

I would however like to clarify that Eugene never married. He adopted a kid instead. So technically he hasn’t any descendants. Plus he never found out that she died. He only found out like now, in this timeline (but won’t be until later in the story

The story is actually really nice, if it isn't about bullying, status and betrayed love.

Let me note that I haven't read the story, so I have no idea what is going to happen -- but I'm willing to bet
the seed is supposed to sprout into an eggplant.

I vaguely remember the boiled seed story. While it's a good aesop, I wonder about its practicality in choosing someone with authority. Just because you're honest doesn't mean you're capable. I'm sure we'll get a nice development with this though.

Claire is a sweetheart and I can already see her becoming the BFF. I'm sure the prince would like to get along with her too. Just as importantly, she's going to be the ticket for both of them to find out the truth of what happened in their past lives.

What's fascinating to me is the fact that "Theo Howard" is the person who pledged to not sell the ring, not "Eugene Howard". Theo might be his son, grandson, or something else, but somehow, the sentimental value Eugene had for that ring was transferred over to the rest of the family, which...is curious.
The true story sounds like it's going to be very interesting.
