@Siquall - Sorry to say this but Head Maid Elaine has been there since the very beginning. Go back and reread chapter 2, Ibee first mentions her to Ann the thief maid. And her first in person introduction is in chapter 6 when she personally tells Ibee she's been reassigned to Ale as his main maid. She always been there, she was never brought in during that fuss, just reassigned to the main house. So the truth is, yes she never did anything to help him when he was cursed but did a complete turn around the minute he's cured, all in the name of protecting the Duke's family name. That's why I see her as a hypocrite. Because she doesn't see Ale as a human being with feelings but as a person whose attached to a title with great power whom she's currently serving with his best interest. It's debatable whether she did them both a favor by separating but that still doesn't forgive her for acting as though she's the righteous one when not once has she even consider either of their feelings on the matter as human beings instead of just as titles, like Duke and Maid. That's what bothers me! They're human beings before they are titles!

You know around chapter 28 she recalls the fact that he is overprotective because he can't open up his heart to anyone else besides her, thus when she gets close to someone else thats why he looses his shit. But really it might be good that she disappears because it will open him up to why she left, and then he'll realize that she doesn't only have him. But right now he doesn't see that it's normal to have others because Ibee has been his only relationship his whole life. Yeah i don't think she should have just left like that, but that wasn't such a crazy reaction since if you see how much she means to him not because he loves her but because she truly is the only one who matters in his life. So trying to bring her back would totally make sense in his mind.

Another thing, ya'll are forgetting is that Ibee raised Alejandro, so when she really does think that he will fall for someone else, thats not necessarily because she's dense but because she's had a motherly kind of role with him this whole time, so the transition into a possible lover is hard to do and accept.

Thats what i believe let me know if you think otherwise i'm interested in everyone else's opinions 😀

(also i didn't proof read this so sorry if i screwed up in my writing 🙃😉)

Lorenzo was ready to drop everything and leave with her. if she doesnt know how he feels from that then she's not dense she's retarded but her leaving him there could also mean she understood and was rejecting him.
i hope Alejandro doesnt find her this separation is good for him

Whisper, just wondering, is Alejandro and Ibelina's personality like this in the novel too?

@lovepanda21 Exactly! Ibellina was too much of a mother to him that it’s pretty hard to break from that way of thinking. This will also, in a way, broaden the ML’s way of thinking. If he wants to protect her, he must deal with his issues, utilize people to their full potential, and ovethrow those SOBs from their very own castle.

@Lovepanda21 nah that def makes sense. just seeing the cover makes me 🤢 sometimes when i remember that people ship them together because like... that his caretaker! she raised him! you mean to tell me that this happening in real life is frowned upon but because its in the story its alright? like thats really the thinking of some people here. he needs real, actual psychological help because hes shelled himself off from any sort of meaningful interaction with other people (though of no fault of his own) and thats dangerous. thats why hes like that!

Even the characters themselves know the mc is beyond being dense, she's retarded and has mental disabilities that makes it hard for her to understand certain things.

Nah, I still think Elaine did the right thing here. I mean, look how obsessed Ale is rn, some time apart wouldn't be bad for them.
With that said, maybe not in those circumstances, where he didn't even know she left.

So, he let the hag keep her head? Chop it off, so others know not to overstep their bounds. Leaving the hag alive serves absolutely no purpose, she can't even do her job properly.

Elaine was definitely in the right in this decision. It's part of her job as the head maid; she serves the name, not the person. She did it with the previous lord, she'll keep doing it again. The one at fault is Alejandro who refuses to see how his actions and affections towards Ibelina are ruining this name he carries. He has a responsibility and he should've been more aware of that. If we see irl politicians do the same, we would've rip them to shreds.

I find funny that so many people think that the head maid is right.
Let's forget that Alejandro was suffering during years and years a curse with unbearable pain that make him weak, almost blind and not being able to grow, he was abandoned by all the people in his state, and used to bear the curse, when he was only a kid.
He knows how cruel people can be so yeah he is right about not trusting people.
And, even after all this shit he still was a good son and took the classes to inherit the state, father death in accident with is lover, and a mother out of control, he is actually really grown because he was able to take care of all the shit that his parents left him with.

And that maid was like everyone else, and she has the nerve to make ibelina leave the job, the only one who cared about him, she has no selfawarenes, after all the shit that Alejandro has been through they should shut the fuck up and mind their own business.

And guess what Head maid because of your "Of the sake of the family" this "For your own sake" that you've broken the heart of your master. If it was me, I'd rather hope that the curse would come back at least I could keep the person whom I treasure the most.

This is such an arbitrarily forced conflict. Ibelina knows Alejandro's curse rebounded hard when he was betrayed by the love of his life and this dumbass is just going to walk right out of the manor without a peep? Yeah okay, let's effectively abandon the kid, what could possibly go wrong.

I’m really angry at FL leaving, I felt like it came out of no where. Plot wise, her being FORCED out makes sense, but AGREEING to leave makes no sense. Forget the fact ML had no one who truly cares for him except her- she legit doesn’t know anyone else in this world. She came here for him and stayed with him. I would have understood if she wanted FREEDOM and really believed the plot wouldn’t change, but...leaving because she is scared, when there has been no threat, is off.

@Lilithabeth You are definitely right in that Elaine bears responsibility for her part in the neglect and cold treatment Alejandro received. As a person her behavior was disappointing and irresponsible as an adult. However for the specific choice to encourage Ibelina to leave, in her role as head maid, in my opinion makes sense. While Ibelina is a blessing in many ways to Alejandro, their relationship is a bit of a 2 edged sword at this point, especially to people looking at it from the outside. After what he's gone through, his actions and thinking are understandable, but not necessarily wise. As readers too we naturally prioritize/empathize with the MC's, but again thinking of what her job is, Elaine also needs to think of the other staff in connection with the future of the family. We might ignore them for how they treated Alejandro, but she doesn't get to do that. Plus we see with Ibee's friends, that not all of them were horrible people but ones who easily fell for the rumors or were too afraid to approach him. She doesn't have some moral high ground to stand on but I think she made the logical choice in those circumstances. Plus while she did strongly encourage Ibelina to leave, she didn't force her to go, Ibelina herself ended up agreeing and choosing to go, maybe not for the exact same reasons, but still. BTW I hope I don't sound like I'm arguing with you, just my thoughts on what you said. :)
