@s0che I mean, their relationship would still be socially unacceptable even then. "Inseki" is considered incest in a lot of places to begin with, anyway. Laws about incest will often include stuff like step or adopted siblings with zero blood relation. It's referred to as relation by affinity in English if you're curious enough to look anything up about it.

Although technically, unless it's changed since like 2016, Japan doesn't actually have a law forbidding incest iirc. Just has to be between consenting adults and everything would be kosher legally speaking. Which rolls us back around to it being socially unacceptable. The thing these two would be concerned about is how their family and friends would react, and it'd likely be pretty bad whether they were blood related or related by affinity.

TL;DR there's practically no difference as far as they're concerned, and for us it's the difference of a genre tag if this site actually had both separated but it doesn't (Kiss x Sis is tagged incest as well, for example, and they're unrelated by blood).
