Maybe there's some time travel element going on and this is actually Earth in the far future after some apocalyptic event. That or it's some sort of program and otherworlders are just outside users or adminsitrators given a backstory. The cheat abilities feel like they're actual programming exploits and people like Hinako being "legitimate code users" gives that impression.

The sci-fi elements have been there since the earliest chapters but there wasn't any reason to think it wasn't because of the people running the capital also being otherworlders bringing their super advanced sci-fi future tech with them to what was otherwise a medieval world.

Seeing the ruins of what looks like a 21st century city with modern day buildings and roadways and vehicles and all that is something else entirely since it doesn't fit with either the sci-fi stuff nor the rest of the surrounding world that we've seen. That raises more questions I feel.

Again, yes I'm aware of the fucking sci-fi stuff but there was nothing to indicate that it wasn't just sci-fi stuff in a medieval world. The 21st century city we see at the start of this chapter is not the same thing as what's been shown or implied about the world up to this point. Especially with it being a restricted area. That indicates there's some secret about the setting beyond an advanced civilization bringing their futuristic sci-fi tech to a medieval world.

So you missed the conversation onboard and around the starship then? About how they use otherworlders for their knowledge and cheats? Of course there will be futuristic and modern shit in this world.
